Concorde Models Closure a personal view
It looks as if our local model shop will close at the end of September. Alan has not found a buyer for the business and has decided to shut up shop. It is a sad day and I hope that he doesn't loose too much but I suspect that it will hurt financially. Unfortunately it is a sign of the times with more of us buying on-line and mail order. I don't know how much the business has been affected by recent changes to Aldershot but in my experience the relative difficulty or expense of parking has also worked as a deterrent. That said I'm as guilty as the next man of making big purchases over the internet but it is generally significantly cheaper than Alan has been able to offer. Clearly you can't cover the overheads selling a few bits of balsa and the odd prop, eqally we can't afford to pass up the savings. I wish Alan better luck in his next venture. Graham Legg.
